This year I was granted an incredible opportunity to run in the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon on behalf of The Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, on November 7th, 2021.
As some of you may or may not know, my sister Halie was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (a cancerous brain tumor that starts in the lower back part of the cerebellum) in 2009, when she was just 11 years old. There were many obstacles she had to face , i.e. relearning all her motor skills, multiple surgeries, therapies, and a set of cool new wheels since she is unable to walk. Fast forward 12 years, she is cancer free and living happily in New Jersey.
I am not only running for her, but also in honor of all the children that may have had to go through this traumatic experience. This is my 1st full length marathon and I would love to be able to happily say I did it not only for my own self goals, but to represent such an amazing organization.
