The Children's Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) is the nation’s leader in quality of life programs for children and families affected by brain and spinal tumors. We are asking some of our key partners to rally their friends, family, and networks to support CBTF's important work. By supporting a Family & Friends Walk Team, you will have a direct impact on children diagnosed with brain and spinal tumors and their families.

Naomi's brain tumor journey began before she was even born. And, it was nearly 8 weeks more before it was discovered by doctors. The first six months were intense with multiple brain surgeries and hospitalizations. For the next year, Naomi was in the hospital every month for procedures and tests to see if the tumor was growing back. These were gradually spread out and eventually reached a point where it only had to be done once a year. Finally, after nearly ten years with no recurrence of the brain tumor, we were able to stop the monitoring. Naomi's brain tumor status was officially changed to that of survivorship. For some, that's a green flag to resume normal life. But for many others, including Naomi, there is no going back to a normal life. So many survivors face additional challenges that affect vision, hearing, memory, learning, mobility and more. Naomi has the long term affects of multiple visual impairments including partial blindness, significant intellectual disability, cerebral palsy - partial paralysis on the left side of her body, and she is unable to communicate (non-verbal). It has been more than 13 years since Naomi's brain tumor journey began. She has a lifetime of challenges of her own, as well as those brought on by society, ahead of her. CBTF is committed to improving the treatment, quality of life, and long-term outlook for children and families affected by a brain or spinal cord tumor.
