It's marathon season and that means it's time to start raising money to support the children and their families battling life threatening brain and spinal cord tumors. Once again, I am honored to run THE NEW YORK CITY MARATHON for THE CHILDREN'S BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION (CBTF) . The Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) was founded in 1988 by a group of dedicated parents, physicians, and friends to improve the treatment, quality of life, and the long term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research support, education, and advocacy to families and survivors.
I have personally witnessed the amazing work of the CBTF while my daughter Morgan navigated her own treatment and post treatment life. The Children's Brain Tumor Foundation provided support thoughout her journey improving her quality of life and long-term outlook for her and our entire family. To this day Morgan and our entire family are involved with many of the events and programs that the CBTF provides.
What's more, CBTF also looks beyond the now and to the future with active involvement in the national brain tumor consortium and by providing funds to research a cure. Did you know that only 4 percent of the federal budget for cancer research is allocated towards children?!?! Let's change that and give these kids a fighting chance at a cure.
