Running For HOPE - 2024 Chicago Marathon
A Father's Dedication to the Fight Against Brain Cancer.
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
In 2021 my daughter Sophia was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer that originates on the cerebellum. Following a successful surgery to remove the tumor, she faced another challenge: Posterior Fossa Syndrome. Just to give you an idea of what Posterior Fossa Syndrome is like my daughter once told me the Chemo part was easy. I know personally the long term effects of battling cancer, the complications from surgery, and the side effects of treatment. I know the change in the challenge of quality of life , the friends they lose, and how the drastic social shift can be profound. I know my running won't undo what is done, it won't cure cancer itself but the money I raise may be able to contribute to research that could one day lead to a cure. I run with hope these brave children will see someone that was not a runner that is willing to punish himself because he loves them so much that he can hope to make their life better , if not forever , maybe then just for a moment. WE can hope to inspire , give motivation to know anything is possible. It's a symbol of our ongoing fight , and our battle never ends.
