35,174. What does that number mean to you? For me, that will be the average number of steps that I will take in running a marathon. 5,230. This number should mean a lot to you. In 2023, an estimated 5,230 children were diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor just in the United States alone. Worldwide, that number averages 35,000 each year. That number has great significance, but children are not a statistic. They are 100% of our future. When I run the Chicago Marathon, every step represents one more child diagnosed with a central nervous system tumor. Every step in my run reminds me that our future depends on one child fighting to overcome a seemingly insurmountable challenge… one that they didn’t choose. I choose to run the Chicago Marathon to make a difference. Every step provides inspiration that I am running for someone whose future depends on our ability to support the fight for new, better, and more effective therapies. Will you take one of the steps with me in the Chicago Marathon by donating to help fuel the mission of the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation?
