Running NYC in honor of Miracle Max!

I am pledging to run 26.2 miles in NYC to raise funds to support Children's Brain Tumor Foundation.

We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!

On 2.2.22 I heard the words no parent wants to hear. Your child has a terminal inoperable brain tumor. Cancer.

My son Maximus was diagnosed at age 11 with Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG). Before that day, I had never even heard of that type of tumor. But on that day, everything in my life changed. As a single mom of two little boys (8 and 11 at the time), I felt completely overwhelmed and alone. As we navigated brain surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, fights with insurance - I felt like it was so hard to fully explain to others the stress and fear that I was feeling.

I am blessed with a beautiful community made up of family and friends. But thankfully, most of them do not have first hand experience with childhood brain cancer. As we finally began to get our footing in our treatment plan and new way of life, all three of us were ready to start to attend to the emotional toll this journey has taken on us.

But where do the parents of brain tumor kids go for support? And how to you find other kids like yours who are fighting a battle most will never know? And their siblings who are trying to navigate where they fit in with everything happening?

That is where Children's Brain Tumor Foundation steps in. They provide online support groups for families going through exactly what we are going through. They host gatherings and activities for families, provide resources and help so families know they are not fighting this battle alone.

I am honored to have been selected to run the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon in November to raise money to make sure families continue to have access to this valuable support system that I have been so lucky to utilize for my family. The NYC marathon holds a special place in my heart. I took my sons Maximus and Liam to NYC to watch me run the marathon shortly before Maximus was diagnosed. It was our last trip before everything changed. I hope to cross the finish line this year with Maximus and Liam there cheering me on. Please help cheer me on by donating today to this amazing organization! THANK YOU!
